Ingredient Statements

Ingredient Statements – Importers of packaged foods should confirm that all ingredients used are allowed in the US and are identified by the name most commonly used in this country. Some ingredients that are acceptable in other parts of the world may not be acceptable in the US. Companies do not want to have their product rejected at the port of entry after an FDA inspection finds a disallowed ingredient in the Ingredient Statement.

GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status is required for any ingredient used in a food product, however, Dietary Supplements are not subject to the same restriction. Food Label Consultants will check all food ingredient statements to confirm GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status.
